New look 6609 Jacket. Lightning does strike twice!

Well, I figure that having so much left over black lace fabric I suppose that I would use up the rest of the matching fabrics I got from making New Look 6053 that I could make a complimentary jacket to go with it.

Although, I know that wearing these two things together would be too matchy-matchy, but it is a great coordinate with so many other looks it's crazy!

So, I decided to make view A with a lot more work added and some pizzaz, so let's look at the front cover as all projects hope to work out perfectly:

Of course I didn't want to do the eyelet embroidery jacket as shown in the company's view of their imagination, like I said, I did my black lace overlay thing again, and I also fully lined this jacket because I had just enough black bemberg floating around as well.

WAY TO USE UP YOUR RESOURCES!!!

So, next time I need something like this I will just pull it out of the closet and say

"Hey, this could have cost me $200-$300 at Metrotown! Fat chance of that!"

So, here are my pictures of the finished product.  It also may remind you of my Burda 7276 jacket as well, only because I decided to NOT use ties in the front and use a metal clasp, which I thought that I could use a frog fastener, but then I was thinking it wasn't going to be strong enough to stay shut.

This is view A with a metal clasp.
This is the inside lining
I topstitched 6mm (1/4") from pressed edge
I know that the directions did not want the peplum to be lined, but it looks better I think.

Metal clasp bought at Fabricland
Hand sewn metal clasp using upholestry thread
With these front closures, there will always be a bit of a gap in the front but that is okay.  Putting tie closures for this would have cheapened the whole look.  If you are going for fancy you better make sure that the notions are too, otherwise other people who are fashion savvy might raise some eyebrows not in a good way.

So, that is it for now, as I am working hard at finishing an embroidery project. Sewing treasures and heirlooms should not be rushed, as they will add value to your life later on.

Thanks
